I am captivated by the vibrancy of Copenhagen’s urban spaces and the boundless creativity that this city has to offer. It is here, in the heart of this inspiring city, that I am constantly amazed and enthralled by the countless artistic expressions unfolding in every corner.

As a writer, I cherish the rare ability of Copenhagen to create tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle. Over the years, Refshaleøen has been my sanctuary, my refuge, where I seek inner peace and craft my literary works. On this island, where history and innovation intertwine, I can listen to the whispers of the waves and draw inspiration from its unique atmosphere.

Værnedamsvej, located near my home, has gradually become an integral part of who I am. The street holds a special place in my heart, evolving alongside me over time. Its charm and character have woven themselves into the fabric of my being.

That is why I am infinitely thrilled to participate in 3daysofdesign, where I will have the opportunity to experience and witness the extraordinary convergence of art, design, and sustainability. It is a moment when Copenhagen presents itself as a cradle for visionary ideas and groundbreaking concepts, setting new standards for our understanding of aesthetics and functionality.

I look forward to being enchanted by the spectacular exhibitions, innovative designs, and the camaraderie that will emerge among creative souls and passionate visitors. It is a unique chance to explore the pulse of the city, a surge of inspiration, and a reminder of why I am so proud to call Copenhagen my home. You will most likely find me exploring the wonders of Værnedamsvej and immersing myself in the serenity of Refshaleøen.

Værnedamsvej

Them Objects is hosting a small exhibition at Værnedamsvej inside the courtyard by Blomsterskuret and Granola, which I'm looking forward to seeing.

Tom Roussau is a beautiful shop near my home. It's actually not a store I visit often, but Tom Roussau's journey is fantastic. As a young person, he chose to explore the world on a motorcycle and has traveled throughout Europe, North Africa, the East, and South America for 5 years, before starting to sell things from his shop on Istedgade as a self-taught individual.

Refshaleøen

During 3daysofdesign Refshaleøen will be a bustling area spotlighting sustainable materials of tomorrow. One of many highlights of this new district will take place on June 8, where SPACE10 and 3daysofdesign in collaboration with Material Matters and Office Kim Lenschow present “Materials of Tomorrow”, a half-day symposium aimed at radically rethinking material systems to design more sustainable and healthy homes of tomorrow.

Another interesting thing at Refshaleøen is that 3daysofdesign has decided to co-create a 30metre long table named ‘The Junction’ in collaboration with the Copenhagen studio Spacon & X. The idea behind the circular table is to rethink the classic bench and table set up, and challenge the way that we meet and interact with one another in a public space. I think this will be a great place to hang out and connect with locals and some of the creative minds behind the many exhibitions in the area.

Carlsberg Byen

Carlsberg Byen is a brilliant showcase of how city development can transform a neighbourhood.

I believe the 3daysofdesign hub at Carlsberg Byen will be a dynamic meeting point to learn about city planning whilst enjoying a beautiful exhibition, “The Living City,” in the old Mineralvandsfabrikken curated by the design studio BRIQ. An exhibition that presents the story of Carlsberg Byen and its collaborations with innovative urban developers, architects, and designers.

I will also look very much forward to visit Mineralvandsfabrikken Friday 9th at 10am when World-renowned architect Anupama Kundoo will host a talk focusing on the deep human need for purpose, refuge, and social engagement. Her work evolves around topics such as experimentation, innovation, and using and learning from local building techniques and materials.

Others

Formel A has a shop at Esplanaden that I have often passed by. I remember how I first fell in love with their furniture when I saw their A SOFA in a curry yellow colour. It's bold. Since then, I have been following Formula A from a distance. I am excited to see what they have in store for this year's 3daysofdesign.

UMAGE  will host a party in their courtyard with drinks, food and music on offer.

&Tradition usually hosts some great events, so I'm looking forward to seeing their exhibition this year.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2024, over 400 brands exhibited at the festival, where over 45.000 visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, product launches, networking, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly in showrooms and galleries during June, Wednesday to Friday. In 2025 the festival will be held from 18 — 20 June 2025.

Pack your bags, book a hotel and come to Copenhagen! 3daysofdesign is open to the general public and everyone is invited to visit the showrooms, exhibitions, workshops and design talks. All events are free of charge.
