Discovering our Design Districts

A Journey Through Design, Innovation, and Transformation

As Copenhagen gears up for 3daysofdesign 2025, the city’s vibrant design scene is set to captivate audiences from around the world. Known for its mix of historic charm and modern innovation, Copenhagen offers the ideal backdrop for meaningful, inspiring moments during our design festival.

The festival will take place at various designated Design Districts across Denmark’s capital. This year, we’ve orchestrated 8 Design Districts, each with a specific focus inspired by our 2025 theme KEEP IT REAL.

At the heart of each district is an i—Point, designed for you to find Information, Inspiration, and Installations. The i—Points across the city connect the dots of the festival providing a practical, physical focal point for meeting up with friends and colleagues while exploring 3daysofdesign.

For the first time, we will have a dedicated District Manager at each Design District to help improve your experience of the districts. Drawing on their in–depth knowledge, they will be available to share historical highlights and cultural insights. They will help connect the focus of their district with our KEEP IT REAL theme, while pointing you in the directions of exhibitions and events taking place there. From here, you will also be able to join our Design Walks and meet our very first Design Ambassadors to be revealed this spring.

New Design Districts, Focus and i—Points

District Holmen — Transformations

Holmen blends its proud naval history with modernity. Once a maritime district, it now houses showrooms representing an array of exciting European brands, as well as art galleries, design schools and creative spaces in renovated industrial warehouses, which appear alongside new architectural structures. District Holmen is the epitome of transformation, bridging the gap between old and new, edgy and established, the past and the future.

District Christianshavn — Crafts & Materials

Founded by King Christian IV in the 17th century, Christianshavn celebrates a rich artisanal heritage. For centuries, artisan workshops lined the area’s canals, connecting Danish production to Europe and beyond. With that in mind, District Christianshavn is where we focus on crafts, materials and processes that merge traditional creative arts with modern techniques. Visitors can look forward to a hands–on experience of artisan skills and innovative materials by artists who use them to create the objects that define our spaces.

i—Point Location: Kanalhuset

District Amerikakaj — Atmospheres

Previously a key departure point in Denmark for transatlantic travel, Amerikakaj is now a dynamicneighbourhood filled with numerous design brands from home and abroad, many of which represent lighting. During our festival this summer, District Amerikakaj will celebrate our own desire to illuminate paths towards a brighter future. Experience the role of lighting in creating a variety of atmospheres, and discover how atmosphere, in itself, can evoke emotions, inspire creativity, and contribute to our overall sense of well–being.

District Nordhavn — Communities

Nordhavn is being developed into a model for the “five–minute city.” Through urban planning that involves creating and connecting sustainable neighbourhoods, it aims to create thriving communities where everything is within walking distance. In fact, community is at the heart of District Nordhavn. It’s an urban archipelago that juxtaposes indoor and outdoor, merging industrial elements from its past as a merchant port – with nature. All in all, it’s a truly unique blueprint for a modern-minded way of life.

District Kultur — Perspectives

The cultural heart of Copenhagen, District Kultur, invites exploration into the intersection between design, history, and cultural heritage. Cultural perspectives play a key role in creating products, spaces and experiences that resonate with diverse audiences. They draw on values, symbols and traditions that imbue objects with a deeper meaning. A meaning that goes beyond aesthetics and functionality, to embrace a mindset that’s open, honest and inclusive of all people and angles on design.

District Frederiksstaden — Authenticity

Home to iconic 18th—century Rococo architecture, Frederiksstaden serves as a testament to the importance of authenticity. The district celebrates the preservation of heritage and craftsmanship, inspiring us to stay true to our roots despite fleeting trends, or a societal assumption that new is always better. In a rapidly changing world, it’s crucial to retain an appreciation of heritage. And to honour original thinking by people who were pioneers in their day, who paved the path for ideas that led to the way we live our lives today.

District Rosengård — Insights

Nestled in the heart of old town Copenhagen lies District Rosengård. A name shrouded in mystery, the area was once a fortified city surrounded by walls and moats before the fortifications were dismantled. Having gone from a walled enclave to an open city, it’s the perfect metaphor for breaking free from societal constraints in search of what resonates as real for you. At District Rosengård, we invite you to see beyond the surface. To prioritise your personal truth — even if it goes against the typical way of thinking.

District Kongens Nytorv — Connections

Kongens Nytorv has been a popular meeting point for centuries. It’s a regal square in close proximity to many of Copenhagen’s most prominent landmarks, such as the Royal Danish Theatre, Charlottenborg Palace, and D’Angleterre. At District Kongens Nytorv, our focus is on connectivity. In a world where people are always on the move, connectivity is paramount. Not just online, but also IRL. We invite you to KEEP IT REAL in this stunning setting, by allowing fleeting moments of connections with each other, our surroundings — and our exhibitors.

Questions?

3daysofdesign is Denmark’s annual design festival, conceived as a platform to showcase and celebrate great design. It’s the opportunity to meet, network and be inspired by designs from local and global talent. The informal atmosphere welcomes people to engage directly with design brands at stunning locations all over Copenhagen.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2024, over 400 brands exhibited at the festival, where over 45.000 visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, product launches, networking, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly in showrooms and galleries during June, Wednesday to Friday. In 2025 the festival will be held from 18 — 20 June 2025.

Pack your bags, book a hotel and come to Copenhagen! 3daysofdesign is open to the general public and everyone is invited to visit the showrooms, exhibitions, workshops and design talks. All events are free of charge.
