This year, 3daysofdesign are collaborating with IKEA to create COMMON GROUND Symposium - a space for dreaming bold dreams for our future. The planet needs space to rest and regenerate for future generations. So do we. Visitors are invited into a dreamy playground at Food Studio in District Refshaleøen, where slowness and time for reflection is a priority, and are dared to dream. Whether you’re a sustainability expert, policy maker, designer, architect or just interested in how design can be a force for change.

COMMON GROUND Symposium is an exchange of perspectives serving as a platform during 3daysofdesign where experts, innovators, and designers meet to explore the intersections of sustainability, materials, and circular design principles. Moderated by Veronica D’Souza, you will meet Luca Nichetto, Anupama Kundoo, Akanksha Deo Sharma, Alfredo Häberli, Michael Anastassiades, Ineke Hans, Liza Chong, Bonnie Hvillum, Tej Chauhan, Larry Botchway, Steffen Kallehauge, Marcus Arvonen, Maria Vinka, Philippe Brocart, and Anker Bak. Join us as we unite the design community to envision a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future. All sessions are free, but require registration. Book your free ticket now. Based in Uji, Kyoto, Asahiyaki is among the oldest ceramic kilns in Japan, having crafted tea wares in the same family for 425 years.
This rich history provides a unique perspective of time. Clay used today was extracted two generations ago, just as new clay is prepared for future generations. Tea vessels are not considered complete when they emerge from the kiln; they reach fulfilment gradually, through years of daily use. Besides making artistic pieces for the tea ceremony and sencha wares for daily use, Asahiyaki collaborates with global brands and restaurants on bespoke tableware collections. Every piece is thrown by hand on the pottery wheel by skilled artisans.
