This year, 3daysofdesign are collaborating with IKEA to create COMMON GROUND Symposium - a space for dreaming bold dreams for our future. The planet needs space to rest and regenerate for future generations. So do we. Visitors are invited into a dreamy playground at Food Studio in District Refshaleøen, where slowness and time for reflection is a priority, and are dared to dream. Whether you’re a sustainability expert, policy maker, designer, architect or just interested in how design can be a force for change.

COMMON GROUND Symposium is an exchange of perspectives serving as a platform during 3daysofdesign where experts, innovators, and designers meet to explore the intersections of sustainability, materials, and circular design principles. Moderated by Veronica D’Souza, you will meet Luca Nichetto, Anupama Kundoo, Akanksha Deo Sharma, Alfredo Häberli, Michael Anastassiades, Ineke Hans, Liza Chong, Bonnie Hvillum, Tej Chauhan, Larry Botchway, Steffen Kallehauge, Marcus Arvonen, Maria Vinka, Philippe Brocart, and Anker Bak. Join us as we unite the design community to envision a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future. All sessions are free, but require registration. Book your free ticket now. Kaikale is an India-based furniture brand rooted in local craftsmanship and people-driven making. In collaboration with the Scandinavian architect Alexander Mihel, the work brings together traditional Indian carpentry and Scandinavian design principles. Kaikale x Alexander Mihel presents a furniture collection developed over 2,5 years through a hands-on collaborative process. The collection is made using carpentry-based methods, working with established hardwoods and also experimenting with non-forest timber such as coconut timber. In India, the coconut tree has traditionally been fully utilised, with every part used. The furniture continues this approach by giving coconut wood a long life as durable, long-lasting pieces.

Arthur Rottier is a designer and product developer based in Arnhem, the Netherlands. His practice moves between commissioned work and self–initiated projects, driven by an interest in how objects can be conceived and produced locally using contemporary means. The work is defined by advanced, computer–controlled engineering and production methods, careful finishing, and a restrained approach to form. Durability is central: materials are chosen for wear resistance, constructions are clear and legible, and connections are simple. Affordability is considered part of the design challenge. At the core of the practice lies the belief that beauty is essential to sustainability. Objects that are valued are cared for, and what is cared for lasts.
