Giopato & Coombes is a creative studio that brings together a design approach and art research into their projects, founded in Italy by Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes, an Italian-British architect and designer couple. Their practice uses light as a medium merging material and immaterial, to redefine interaction spaces by capturing everyday moments and elevating them to a collective celebration of memories and sensations. They call it the Supernatural Daydream, an experience that begins with our every day and goes beyond boundaries. For them, the creative process is aimed at evoking this experience, which is unique for everyone, and sharing it with one light creation at a time.

Giopato & Coombes brings together a symphony of light creations. Merging avant-garde research and sculptural intelligence, the designer duo presents some of their most iconic projects. The new collection Bruma, inspired by the spatial chiaroscuro created by the mist, in a balance between density and absence; and the collection Maehwa, with its blooming and natural sinuosity, is named after the Korean word for plum blossom. On display also the Cirque collection with a brand-new floor version, and the first launched Flamingo project with a unique piece that reveals the unconventional research approach of Giopato & Coombes to unlimited freedom of geometry.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2023, over 250 brands exhibited at the festival, where visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, networking events, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly during the second week of June from Wednesday to Friday. In 2024 the festival will be held from 12 - 14 June.
