The Italian design company Cassina, which was founded in 1927, was among the first to combine craftsmanship with technological production methods to create modern furniture in collaboration with contemporary designers.
This philosophy led Cassina to acquire the rights of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand’s designs in 1964. These designs have since won international recognition and are today considered among the biggest design icons of all times. This was the beginning of the Cassina I Maestri collection, which besides the LC collection consists of designs from renowned designers such as Gerrit Rietveld, Franco Albini, Frank Lloyd Weber and Gunnar Asplund. In addition, Cassina has created the Cassina I Contemporanei collection, consisting of designs of recognized names, such as Gio Ponti, Vico Magistretti, Piero Lissoni, Konstantin Grcic, Jaime Hayon, and of course designs by Cassina’s art director, Patricia Urquiola.
